Shaving Soaps

Don’t know which of our scents to choose?  Try one  (or a pack of all 10 scents) of our sample sized soaps. Each soap is about 0.4oz – enough for several good shaves.  To use, scoop out the soap, and press into a dish, mug, or bowl and lather as usual. Each sample is enough soap for 5-10 shaves, depending on your brush and loading time. The wild west may be long gone, but its memory still lingers in the ghost town’s barbershop. This is a classic barbershop scent with a western twist – main notes being bergamot, basil leaf, white patchouli, oakmoss, texas cedar, leather, smoke, and gunpowder. 4oz of tallow based soap in a plastic tub (4" diameter and 2" tall). This is not your average soap. This is Cryogen.  We put a ridiculous amount of menthol in here.  So much menthol, that no other scent could be added – the soap recipe just couldn't take any more additives without breaking down. This will sting and make your eyes water.  It might even make your lips go numb. Some may say it is not even usable, but we like it. We believe this is the coldest soap on the market, but if it isn't – someone out there is crazy… Quick quote from a customer: You have to try Chiseled Face Cryogen soap & aftershave. Our Sherlock scent is inspired by the character brought to life in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in his classic series – The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes – written in the late 1800’s.  It is a warm tobacco based scent blended with toasted caramel, black pepper, moist dirt, and finished with a touch of leather, moss, mandarin, honey and rose. 4oz of tallow based soap in a sturdy plastic tubs. Walking through the countryside, you are caught by a sudden rain storm. Taking shelter under an outcropping of rock, you drink in the scent of nature as it is being washed by rain. This is not a sterile scent, there is some grit and dirt in it, and yet it is clean and fresh. This one is masculine. Like really, really masculine. Like a “take an old, beat up leather jacket, drape it over a couple of tires to make a table and clean your guns on it” kind of masculine. Dark, unrefined, and totally unresistible, this is a scent for those who don’t mind sticking out. Those who forge the paths. Those who are proud to be a man. We are excited to announce our first all natural scent – made up entirely of essential oils. Warm, woody, and reassuring with a lime and spice kick to keep things from getting boring; we are really happy how this one turned out – it may well be my new favorite! We've wanted to do a bay rum for years, but it took a while to get things the way we want. This is a tropical bay rum - quite different than most bay rums on the market today - this one actually has a bit of a rum kick to it and is spiced up with ginger and lime to give it a lighter more tropical feel. Contains the following notes: Jamaican Rum - this accord is a blend of natural and artificial scent oils, and smells a lot like a traditional oak-aged spiced rum. Bay leaves - not the ones from Mom's kitchen!  This is 100% essential oils from the traditional  west indie's bay leaf pimenta racemosa Bergamot - Essential to a tropical bay rum scent, this gives a nice citrus kick that isn't too sweet.  Bergamot is probably best known for giving earl grey tea it's distinctive flavour. Lime - Gives a fresh kick to an otherwise somewhat dark scent Clove - Every bay rum needs a bit of clove, though this one is understated and blends in rather than taking centre stage like clove will tend to if not reigned in.  Cinnamon - A bit of warm spice Ginger - This kinda sets this apart from most bay rums.  Initially, you get a nice strong hit of ginger which quickly mellows out to a more traditional dry down. Black pepper - This grounds the scent nicely giving it a bunch more refinement.  Vanilla - for a nice mellow smoothness - it really ties things together.    4oz of tallow based soap in a sturdy recyclable plastic tub. This is the scent of an orange creamsicle with some menthol added to provide the cooling power of a popsicle. 4oz of tallow based soap in large plastic tub. Finally back for a limited time after an almost 2 years hiatus.  This is the shaving scent that shouldn’t exist, but does – due entirely to customer request. Also available in an aftershave. Banana – what more can be added to that?  This is not a subdued scent, open the container and the smell of banana is right there in your face. After many customer requests, we present Santa Paula, and all natural citrus based shaving soap. Santa Paula, CA is a beautiful little town, known as the Citrus Capital of the World. Several years ago, I spent a couple months there and fell in love with the orchards that stretched in all directions. This is my ode to them. Light and perfect for every occasion, I hope you enjoy Santa Paula as much as I do. An all natural blend of Petitgrain, Siberian Fir, Bitter Orange, Clary Sage, Litsea Cubeba, Siam Wood, and Cedar. First off, lets get one thing clear – if you are looking for a fancy smelling soap, this is not the one you are looking for. This soap has no added scents, colors, or anything else. It’s pine tar shaving soap. Just soap and Pine Tar. It doesn’t smell fancy – after all, it is tar! What does it smell like? You’ve probably encountered pine tar, or something that smells like it at some point.  Have ever done one of the following: Been on a tall wooden sailing vessel on a hot day? Applied some pine tar to the handle of your bat before stepping up to the home plate? Used railroad ties to make a flowerbed? Taken a trip to the La Brea tar pits? Rolled your window down while driving on a freshly paved road? If you have, you know what this smells like (though the last three are asphalt and not pine tar, the smell is similar). It’s not a fresh, clean pine forest scent, but a warm, dirty, grity scent associated with hard work and callused hands. What is pine tar? It’s a natural tar extracted from pine tree roots by heating or burning it in oxygen reduced atmosphere. Today most people only know it as the substance baseball players use to get a tight grip on their bats, but it has a far more colorful history than that. It has been used to waterproof tall sailing ships, and to treat the rigging ropes against rotting while in use. It has been used as an antiseptic, and a treatment for skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and rosacea. Does it actually cure skin diseases? We have no idea, and we don’t advertise that it does. However pine tar soap has been made and loved for well over 100 years, and after using it, we are not surprised – it’s really good stuff. If pine tar soap worked for grandpa, it works for me too. Shave with Pine Tar shaving soap! Introducing our new silk tallow base with our bestselling Ghost Town Barber Fragrance.While we still stand behind our OG base 100% and do not currently have plans to discontinue it, it has been five years since it was released and it was time to create a more modern shaving soap formula. We tested ingredient after ingredient racking up fifty-six test batches before we settled on this one. The main secret is a massive amount of silk hydrolysate which is a very conditioning, natural, film-forming agent which is used in a lot of anti-aging creams (anti-aging statement not evaluated by the FDA, Yaya, yadda, etc). Some of my testers reported feeling a skin tightening sensation - be aware that this is the film left by the silk hydrolysate.
