Bay Rum – Shaving Soap

We've wanted to do a bay rum for years, but it took a while to get things the way we want.

This is a tropical bay rum - quite different than most bay rums on the market today - this one actually has a bit of a rum kick to it and is spiced up with ginger and lime to give it a lighter more tropical feel.

Contains the following notes:

Jamaican Rum - this accord is a blend of natural and artificial scent oils, and smells a lot like a traditional oak-aged spiced rum.

Bay leaves - not the ones from Mom's kitchen!  This is 100% essential oils from the traditional  west indie's bay leaf pimenta racemosa

Bergamot - Essential to a tropical bay rum scent, this gives a nice citrus kick that isn't too sweet.  Bergamot is probably best known for giving earl grey tea it's distinctive flavour.

Lime - Gives a fresh kick to an otherwise somewhat dark scent

Clove - Every bay rum needs a bit of clove, though this one is understated and blends in rather than taking centre stage like clove will tend to if not reigned in.

Cinnamon - A bit of warm spice

Ginger - This kinda sets this apart from most bay rums.  Initially, you get a nice strong hit of ginger which quickly mellows out to a more traditional dry down.

Black pepper - This grounds the scent nicely giving it a bunch more refinement.

Vanilla - for a nice mellow smoothness - it really ties things together.

4oz of tallow based soap in a sturdy recyclable plastic tub. Tubs are half full to allow for space to load your brush without making a mess.

Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Aloe Vera Juice, Beef Tallow, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Glycerin, Fragrance, Mango Butter, Avocado Oil, Silk Powder

Unique Bay Rum

This was my first soap from Chiseled Face and it was a good experience. The scent has a bay rum foundation. I would say this is not a sweet or tart smell and not like a cologne. It kind of gets close to an anise smell in some ways. The soap base is quite good with excellent cushion and good hydration variability.

Bay Rum - 2nd Sample

Today I lathered up with the Bay Rum sample and I mean lathered up. I tried to use a smaller amount of soap than I did with GTB yesterday and still got an overflow of beautiful lather from my scuttle. If you like lots of lather, soak the brush and don't release any of the water. Squish the sample soap in the scuttle and lather like it stole from you. It absolutely blew up in my bowl. Almost wished I had another face to shave! Have to say that I have not smelled a bay rum that I didn't like and this scent was a treat. Great shave with all that lather and the after shave had a nice sting with the exact scent of the soap.

Tomorrow, Cryogen and I hope I don't cry!
